Iain's music is taken from a range of influences from Ricky Ross of Deacon Blue – who first inspired him to write some solo material after a concert at the Edinburgh Festival in 1998 – to Tom Waits. This scope tends to come across in his music when, although a certain sound and style is maintained, the genre and structure varies a lot from song to song.
